In 2017, Veliky Novgorod turns 1158! Welcome to Novgorod - the Birthplace of Russia - to celebrate this festive date!

City Day is a favorite holiday of Novgorod and guests of the city, which is traditionally celebrated in the second weekend of June. City Day celebrations are unusually bright and joyfuleach time organizers try to surprise with something new.

The program includes festivals, sporting events, interactive programs, performances of artistic groups, fireworks.

During these days you can explore unique historical sights in the centre of the city – the Kremlin, Yaroslav’s Courtyard, as well as in the suburbs. 

Attention! On June 11 the museums are closed an hour earlier.

You can also take part in the motor ship voyage to the lake Ilmen. The ships start every day at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and then they go from the pier every hour.

Cultural Events

June 10 - 12 - International Folk Art and Craft Festival Sadko

A grand-scale cultural festival will be held these days in our city and suburbs. The closing day of the festival (June 12) will be truly full of new experience, for the folk crafts celebration will be arranged in the Vitoslavlitsy wooden architecture museum.

To feel the air of the City day you are welcome to the festive fireworks which will take place on June 11 at 11:50 p.m. on the Yaroslav’s Courtyard.
