Built in the south-eastern part of the Kremlin in the late 15th century, the church was erected replacing the stair tower of former gigantic Sts. Boris and Gleb Church, built by Sotko Sytnich, a merchant, being a prototype of an epic hero Sadko from Novgorod. The Church is covered by a gable roof with a small dome on it; the gable of the western facade has a single-bay belfry. The fresco paintings of 16th century have been partially preserved inside the temple.
