Rossiya Cinema was founded in Veliky Novgorod on July 5, 1963. The number of seats was 842. The screen area was 100 square meters.

After reconstruction and technical re-equipment on September 14, 1998 Rossiya Cinema was renamed to Cinema Center Rossiya. The number of seats was changed from 842 to 467 for comfortable film watching.

Later the small hall with 72 seats was opened. Nowadays it is a complex of two halls, comfortable cinema bar and cloak room.

There is the Dolby audio system for movie screening. In 2010 Cinema Center Rossiya started to show 3D and digital quality movies. For that to happen a new equipment and a large screen was fixed.

Ticket Professional ticketing system, which makes ticketing process faster and offers better seats choice, was added in the same year.

The repertory of Cinema Center includes world and Russian premieres on the same date as it releases around the country. You can see the great variety of the world cinematograph – action films, thrillers, melodrama, cartoons and the most popular genres, such as comedies and historical movies.

Over the years of working Cinema Center Rossiya has organised a lot of film festivals: "Smile, Russia!", "Cinema is my love", "Veche", "Saved World Remembers", "Stalker", "The Youths and The Human Rights", "The Pure Screen". Visitors have met Russian cinema stars such as Lyudmila Gurchenko, Zinaida Kirienko, Larisa Golubkina, Aleksey Petrenko, Veniamin Smehov, Nikita Dzhigurda, Aleksandr Lazarev and many others. Among guests of those festivals were creative teams and famous film directors: Alla Surikova, Nikita Mikhalkov, Svetlana Druzhinina, Aleksandr Sokurov, Sergey Soloviev, Natalia Bondarchuk, Dmitry Astrakhan.

International Cinema Days take place in Cinema Center Rossiya every year. During these days people got acquainted with culture and cinematograph of Japan, India, China, Bulgaria, France, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Spain. Representatives and creative persons of these counties participated in the opening ceremonies.

Russian premieres under the heading “Our Cinema”, youth’s promotion acts “Cinema. Youth. Patriotism”, “Cinematograph against Drugs”, “Children of War” have become traditional.

Cinema fans in Novgorod spend their free time in Cinema Center Rossiya not without reason. They like it, and it is always pleasure for them to visit the Center.
